Microlaser Peel
What is MicroLaser Peel?
The MicroLaser Peel is a precise skin exfoliation treatment offered at Kelly’s Laser Aesthetics. This quick, effective treatment is a minimally-invasive option for restoring a youthful glow to your complexion and reducing the appearance of a host of minor skin blemishes.
The procedure has been dubbed the “Weekend Peel” because it offers excellent results with minimal downtime involved.
What it treats:
- Mild wrinkles
- Scars
- Keratosis
- Sun damage (e.g., freckles)
- Pigment irregularities
How MicroLaser Peel Works
The MicroLaserPeel utilizes laser energy to remove outer layers of skin cells, revealing softer, smoother skin underneath. The precise depth of the peel can be easily adjusted, allowing us to customize this procedure to your specific skin conditions and desired outcome. This procedure effectively produces refreshed, revitalized skin with visible improvement in texture, tone, and clarity.
What areas can be treated?
While the face and neck are the most common treatment areas for the MicroLaserPeel, the device can also be used to enhance the appearance of the skin on the chest, shoulders, and hands.
Appointment times range from 30 minutes – 1 hour depending on area(s) treated.
MicroLaserPeel Procedure
The MicroLaserPeel is a minimally-invasive procedure that does not typically involve any anesthesia or incisions. Your skin will be cleaned in the treatment area and your eyes will be protected with safety shields. The laser handpiece is used to deliver the laser energy across the surface of the skin to the treatment area to remove a very thin top layer of damaged skin cells caused by sun-damage giving your skin a tired, aged look. As your skin heals from the procedure, new skin cells grow and resurface to the treated area giving you healthier-looking, more vibrant skin. Because the laser does not penetrate very deep into the skin, this procedure is usually tolerated very well without anesthetic. Topical numbing cream may be used for especially sensitive areas or for deeper treatments. Topical numbing cream may be used for especially sensitive areas or for deeper treatments.
Recovery & Results
After your procedure, your skin will appear “frosty,” due to dehydrated skin cells treated by the laser. These skin cells will flake away within the next few days following your procedure, leaving smoother, more youthful skin in its wake. The skin may be red and sensitive (resembling a sunburn); as well as, have some mild swelling during this part of the recovery, which usually lasts 3-4 days. Your skin will be sensitive to the sun (or ultra-violet light) after the procedure, so you must avoid direct sun exposure until fully healed and apply sunscreen to treated areas for protection. Once the peeling is over and the redness has subsided, you will probably feel comfortable applying makeup and returning to your daily routine. Results will be apparent once the skin has healed. Excellent results can be obtained in just one treatment, however, the number of treatments needed may vary from patient to patient.
